I love it! it does exactly as promised, my little boy thinks its a game, weeee he says as i spin it around!

Worth every penny, some child seats are so expensive and appear the same as all the others, well this one is different for the best.

I cannot rate this seat highly enough, I’m 110% certain that there is nothing better than this out on the market! I did so much research when looking for a seat. Of course I wanted one that was super safe but also wanted it to be comfortable for my little one and easy for me to use. We needed something that could be moved around easily as I didn’t want to be limited to only ever going out in one car but this is so simple. The instructions are great and once you’ve got the hang of it you can get it in and out of cars in minutes.

I have a bit of a wriggler and getting him to sit still while I strapped him in his old chair was a bit of a mission. This chair has the best feature I have ever seen anywhere – it swivels!!! Rather than having to reach round and try and strap my son in I can just turn the seat round so that it faces me and strap him in from there. It gives a big click when you’ve turned it back far enough as well so you know when its in a safe place ready for you to drive.

The seat certainly isn’t the cheapest around but it really is worth every penny, it makes life so much easier and judging by the fact that my little boy falls asleep within about 5 minutes of the car moving I’m assuming its rather comfy too!!

My son loves this seat. Its brightly coloured, comfortable and high enough that he can see out the window. Of all the features this seat has I think my favourite (silly as it sounds) are the little holders it has to rest the straps on when you’re putting your child in. So often when I would put my son in his old seat I could never move the straps far enough out the way that he wouldn’t sit on the buckle and either hurt himself or mean I have to dig around under his bum to pull them back out.

Oh my god, buy this seat!! I’ve just bought this as my little girl is moving into a forward facing seat. Going from a nice comfy travel system seat I wanted something that looked like it would be comfortable as well as giving me the option to have her sitting up or laying back a bit for sleeping. I think there are about 8 positions on this seat that go between upright or laying back! Its really easy to get her in and out of too as I can turn the seat round rather than trying to reach round the front. All my friends with kids are so jealous when they see this!

The wife insisted we bought one of these to make it easier for her! unbelievable that she wants life any easier, sitting at home with the kid all day! well i must admit its excellent, was easy to fit and putting our little boy in the car is a piece of cake.

Definitely recommended

Got it from Kiddicare, Definitely recommend them too.

Peter,

You should switch places with your wife if you think life is so easy for her. Idiot.

Now, this seat is great as it helps take the strain off my injured wrists and back. Thanks maxi-cosi for helping this Mum who doesn’t find life so easy.

Sophie> I second your thoughts on Peter, I laughed out loud when I read his post!

Now, back to the reason I wanted to post! I have been researching car seats and due to problems with my lower back I think the Axiss is the best option for me however according to John Lewis it is not compatible with our Nissan Qashqai because our seatbelt clip would sit too high and next to the Axiss and not snug tucked snugly to the rear car seat cushions. Of course I want my little one to be as safe as possible but it appears that there are so many cars that this would apply to. I called Maxi cosi and they wont commit to a list of cars that it does fit so I just wanted to get views from those who do have the Axiss already? Any help greatly appreciated.

i bought this car seat, when my son went into a foward facing seat.since getting this seat my life has been made so much easier and so has my husbands !!!!
my hubby is disabled and on his 3rd operation but he can still manage to get our boy in and out, with this fantastic seat. i also have back problems so this saves me having to twist and struggle to get baby in !!!
ITS THE BEST INVESTMENT WE COULD HAVE MADE FOR OUR BABY,
YES THE SEAT ISNT CHEAP, BUT WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND PEACE OF MIND, DONT YOU AGREE ???/

Victoria, I also have a Qashqai and am desperately trying to find out if there’s any way I can get this seat as I have problems with my back too. I emailed maxi cosi and they can’t tell me if the car is compatible or not…big help. Having looked at the seatbelt it does look too high. What a daft design flaw…lots of cars are immediately ruled out losing them lots of potential customers.

Follow up to my previous comment…

Just checked on maxi cosi’s website and went through the car fitting list at http://www.maxi-cosi.com/maxicosi/carselector.aspx?language=gb-en

and it would appear that the Axiss IS compatible with the Nissan Qashqai!! Woohoo!

Bought this as have a bad back, it’s good but I do find that when tightening the straps the left one always pulls tighter and the chair needs tightening every time as it wobbles. I have also noticed that the chair is wonly. I love the idea but not 100% happy.

I have 2 axiss seats as I have a 2.5 year old and a 9 month old. Despite being more expensive than most seats, they are more comfortable and seem well padded. We bought them for the swivel action. However, I would say that the original one which was made by bebe confort is a lot higher quality than the maxi cosi one. The bebe confort one has a more padded headrest and the fabric is more durable. The maxi cosi one looks like a cheaper copy, despite being more expensive – had I realised this, I would have tried to buy an original bebe confort axiss seat when we needed a second one. I highly doubt the fabric on the new one will wear as well.

What a fantastic product out little one loves this seat. It sits high so she can see out the window and she loves resting her arms on the sides of the chair and relaxing. we also play the game…… 1, 2, 3 weeeeeeee as we spin her round.

We have an old Y reg 2001 Ford Focus 5 door, we had no problems fitting due to seatbelt length. Hubby is certain the axiss feels even more secure than our first car seat did that we used an isofix base with in our BMW.

Well worth the money, watch out for special promotions, we managed to get ours from amazon for £160 with free delivery.

Fantastic car seat – We have a Toyota Landcruiser – it fits fine – easy to use, brilliant swivel action – everyone comments on what a good idea it is!

We got it cheaper through Amazon – but even at full price i would say its a Bargain – certainly saves time getting an unwilling child in the car and the takes the pressure of your back..

Love the swivel action which is why I bought the seat. BUT, sometimes I’m having problem clicking seat back into place and have to jiggle seat bit, and the worse problem is that the straps dont tighten to the same tension – the right shoulder strap is too lose. Not happy about this…… If anyone has any ideas why this is, pls reply.

This is often caused by a strap getting twisted, check the straps are flat for the complete run to the metal joining plate at the back

I’m exactly the same as the below previous comment.

When we had a seat fitting demonstration in our Audi A4 Avant, it seemed to be a 2 person job to fit it and it seemed to tighten up both at the base and putting the seatbelt to the end of its reel so that it pulled the top part of the axiss seat into the car seat also.

When reading the instructions, it suggests that the seatbelt is pulled tight round the base of the axiss first before slotting the seatbelt into the ratchet slot to tighten up. It pulled the seat incredibly tight but I am still left with a gap behind the top of the seat and although I have every faith that this is secure, I would prefer it if it was fitted like the demonstration that we had leaving no gap at the top and pulling the top of the axiss seat into the car seat.

The only way I can forsee that both sides of the seatbelt on eitherside of the ratchet connector are pulled tight equally, would be to feed some slack through this connector, but to give it enough would feed too much seatbelt round the ratchet making it a too thick of a reel which would probably get in the way of clicking the seat back into position as mentioned by Debs just above.

I can provide pictures and video to admin if required

Great seat, unfortunately does not fit into a vauxhall zafira either, despite their website saying it does. 2 independant retailers, trained fitters have said it would cause buckle crunch, & can be lethal in a crash situation, god forbid!.
Contacted Maxi cosi who won’t commit to anything & say their website may say it fits but they have a disclaimer on it, as each individual cars seat belt is a different size!! So may fit your friends identical car but not yours!
So i now have 2 maxi cosi axiss seats which won’t fit, what a shame.

This seat makes life easier especially when my little girl decides she doesn’t want to sit in it, at least the seat is facing you and you can struggle with her to get her in more easily, lol.

Only problem I’ve noticed is that the seat belt has randomly popped out every now and again, it’s happened in both our cars so can’t be the car’s fault? Maybe I’ve done it too tight? I have to check the seatbelt is clicked everytime I’ve strapped her in to be safe. Anyone else experienced this?

Life saver!

Head on collision back in 2008, 1 week before my daughters first birthday!
Daughter and I out for a nice quiet drive in the country. Came around a blind corner to find a car coming towards us on our side of the road, he was overtaking a tractor. My daughter was asleep at the time of the collision, and only suffered minor bruises to her nose and collarbone. Police needed to cut the seatbelt to get the carseat out. Our Volks Wagon Golf estate was written off.
No obvious damage to the seat. But we replaced it with a new one, which she still uses today, thanks to the makers of Maxi-Cosi Axiss!

(Thank you Maxi-cosi Axiss makers x)

Really love this car seat but have experienced some of the problems as previously mentioned by others.
Firstly, the restraining straps don’t tighten equally even though they are both completely pulled out equal. The right one tightens more than the left leaving this one loose. I have to faff with them to make them the same. This is not a twisted strap as admin have suggested as I have checked. Also we have two of these car seats as my mum & dad have one for their car. They were bought separately from different retailers but yet with both of them it is almost impossible to fully tighten the restraining straps tight enough. You have to pull the straps so hard the base actually moves on the seat of the car and it hurts your hand. Surely this can’t be right.
On a final note despite fitting the seat exactly as the instructions suggest and going to my local authority car seat safety team for a fitting demonstration, every so often I find the seatbelt has lost its tension. As I never know when this is going to happen I have to check the tension every time I use the seat. If the seat is correctly fitted, how can it be that the seatbelt loses its tension. I can only assume this is happening because of the movement of the seat when struggling to tighten the straps.
Any suggestions from admin would be very appreciated to work around these problems.
Despite the problems I love the swivel action of the seat. It makes it so much easier to get my little one in and out of the car & saves the struggle of lifting and twisting into a conventional seat.

We’ve found this car seat really good as well – so convenient compared to the forward facing seats.

However we are having the same problems as Lynne above – we keep losing tension, and the tightening ratchet keeps jumping when I try to tighten it up to avoid this happening.
The tightening ratchet now spins round and round and no longer clicks into place either, which might have something to do with the jumping problem.
The result is that we’re beginning to doubt it’s safety if we had a crash as it might jump loose at the critical moment.
Is our seat broken, or is this a problem withthe design?

I love this car seat!!!! My mum has a non-rotating one and i find it so hard to get my little one into her car.
The rotating seat is just brilliant! I have a damaged disk in my back and was dreading toddler tantrums while trying to twist round at an awkward angle to stap him in.
The only -ve i have is that as mentioned in another couple of reviews the left hand stap is longer than the right….no matter how much i try i cannot get them the same. I have checked and they arent twisted. I pull the straps out as far as they will go and then do them up and tighten them. I have watched the back of the seat as someone else strapped my little one in and you can see that one strap is definitely longer. I dont know if there is a way that the straps can be changed? But i am starting to get concerned as i know there is no reason for one strap to have stretched and it seems to be several inches longer than the other.

We bought three of these, one for my car, one for my wife’s and one for the grand parents…fantastic idea, however all three have experienced problems locking into position. We were stranded one weekend as we could not get the seat to lock in forward seating position…..maxi cosi claim we were the first to report this however I find it hard to believe, considering all three have shown signs of catch failure. All have been sent back to maxi cosi for investigation and adjustment. 100%great idea, but very concerning and stressful when stranded!

Just bought this car seat for 9 month old baby boy. Deep blue colour seems more purple but not too worried as hope to use for any future babies that may come along!! Not sure if anyone else has experienced shoulder straps digging into babies neck but my little one was very red after only 25 minute journey! not sure what to do about straps!
